Worms in the woodwork

  • BNS (Booked not scheduled) hours (indicated by green) are not always scheduled.
  • TutorChat (tech support) has to be downloaded.
  • The DEMO Team… they have a nasty habit of messing around with your booked hours if you are part of the team. Fortunately you can opt out of the Demo Team.
  • Consultants from different countries are paid different rates for the same work. It’s a bitter pill to swallow, but it’s not bitter enough to ruin the teaching experience this company has to offer. 
  • The rate offered to you during your interview is not negotiable (and depends which country you are from).
  • You may be negatively rated if a client experiences technical issues. Luckily technical issues are not a regular thing!

The Verdict

Despite the worms in the woodwork, iTutorGroup remains one of the best and reliable fully remote opportunities I came across. The reliable payment (pay cycle is around the 10th of every month), creative classes and wholesome clients makes this teaching opportunity worth exploring. Yes, work might trickle in slow at first, but stick to your guns, stick to your schedule, don’t cancel often and you will be rewarded.
